On March 21, Seoul IDRC sponsored Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC)'s seminar: “HKIAC Pre-arbitration Strategy Workshop: Maximising Recovery in International Arbitration”. The seminar focused on maximizing the prospects of success and actual recovery in international arbitration.
Following the opening remarks delivered by Mr. Hi-Taek Shin (Chairman, Seoul IDRC), the workshop featured a discussion among Wesley Pang (HKIAC), Jun Hee Kim (White & Case), Liz Chung (Kim & Chang), Ji Hyung Kim (POSCO Energy), Cheng-Yee Khong (Bentham IMF), and Robin Baik (Kobre & Kim). The workshop was centered around examination of a case scenario. The workshop examined how to effectively formulate all-in-all dispute resolution strategy with a case scenario dealing with cross-border dispute over the supply of wind turbine, covering up-to-date issues in international arbitration. The speakers analyzed the arbitration clauses in relation to the case, then discussed considerations to be made in the early stages for maximum recovery.
The attendees including lawyers and in-house counsels of multinational firms showed their enthusiasm for the workshop as the panelists weighed their unrivalled expertise in international arbitration. Seoul IDRC will continue to provide seminars and lectures on up-to-date issues and legal development in international arbitration.
